Sonia Jackson

Sonia Jackson is a versatile SAG-AFTRA actor whose dynamic range takes her from sweet librarian to street-hardened survivor with striking authenticity. Standing at 5’11”, she brings a commanding presence and nuanced approach to every role, honed through decades of professional experience and over 10 years as a Standardized Patient for medical schools.

With an impressive television career spanning shows like St. Denis Medical, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Abbott Elementary, THEM: Covenant, This Is Us, Grey’s Anatomy, The Mentalist, and Shameless, Sonia has worked alongside some of the industry’s most respected directors. Her film credits include Universal’s Jurassic Park 3 and Death Becomes Her, as well as the critically acclaimed The Activated Man, which won the 2024 Mindfield Film Festival Award for Best Ensemble Cast.

Beyond the screen, Sonia is an accomplished playwright and performer. Her ensemble and solo work creating Conversations ‘Bout the Girls, a celebration of women and their bodies, marked its 20th anniversary with its production in 2025 . As both creator and director, she remains deeply committed to casting diverse women of all ethnicities and body types, championing authentic representation in theater.

Trained at Chapman University with a BA in Sociology and a minor in Dance, Sonia’s artistic foundation includes improv work with Second City and the Groundlings, as well as ongoing scene study. Her skills extend to comedy, singing (alto range), dancing, yoga, martial arts, and voiceover work.
