My Story

When orthopedic doctors recommended dance classes to help straighten her crooked legs, 7-year-old Sonia Jackson discovered a lifelong love of the stage—writing, directing, and starring in her first homemade Christmas pageant that same year.

Today, I’m weaving together decades of screen and stage performance with a deep spiritual practice—telling stories that entertain, heal, and transform. You may know me from roles in Abbott Elementary, Obi-Wan Kenobi, This Is Us, Jurassic Park III, Speed, or It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. My solo shows—like Conversations ’Bout the Girls, MamaIsms, and I’m Gonna Fly—celebrate women’s voices, honor ancestral wisdom, and find joy in life’s beautiful absurdities.

As founder of Visions of Possibilities, I create edutainment that challenges outdated narratives and empowers women to embrace their divine potential. I’ve been a spiritual practitioner since 1996 and a member of Agape International Spiritual Center since 1990. My spiritual writing includes the original books My Prayer Journal and Prayers for Your Journey—both created to deepen reflection, gratitude, and connection.

My latest project, She Prayed for Me, is a heartfelt music video that honors the power of ancestral prayer and intergenerational love. Written by me and produced with my husband, Chris Freeman, it’s a visual meditation on healing, connection, and faith.

Whether I’m performing, mentoring other creatives, or leading Healing Prayer Gatherings, I bring the full spectrum of who I am—artist, teacher, spiritual spark plug. Based in Los Angeles, I continue to act, write, direct, sew, pray, and imagine what’s possible.
